Interaction Design
Back to the roots
I felt especially honored when Prof. Stolz (at that time Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences), asked me to take on an Interaction Design teaching assignment in the master’s program for Interaction Design and Computer Science in Media. My good friend and fellow alumnus, Andi Siess, and I took on this opportunity together.
Both of us are very familiar with campus life at HFU, which made it very clear to us that it would be awesome to integrate the lecture & seminar outcomes at tag der medien (werkschau / campus day). Therefore, we built the topic around this very special day at the end of the semester.
The challenge for our students was to integrate an interactive installation in a semi-public space. This came with several challenges regarding the interface since it’s very crowded, loud and people’s attention span is rather short.
Our students came up with several very interesting projects, of which one of them–Keep the Clock going–was later on exhibited at the ZKM | Zentrum für Kunst und Medien in Karlsruhe.
Similar to my other lectures, we encouraged the students to create a short showreel for their later application.
